Insurance for MSPs, built around the access you hold.
You hold administrator credentials across dozens or hundreds of client environments. That access is the business, and it is also the exposure. We build insurance programs for Ontario MSPs around that reality.
Your clients' networks are your workplace.
Every client environment you touch extends your liability. When you manage patching, monitoring, backups, and helpdesk for fifty companies, a mistake or a compromise on your side does not stay on your side. It propagates to every client at once, and each one of them looks to you for the cost.
Attackers understand this better than anyone. An MSP's remote monitoring and management tools are a high-value target precisely because one intrusion reaches many businesses. The compromise of the MSP becomes the compromise of the client base.
It runs in both directions. Criminals impersonate you to your clients, sending convincing instructions from what looks like your address. And they impersonate your clients to you, because your technicians are trained to act quickly on a client's request. A spoofed instruction can move money or hand over access before anyone questions it.
Even without an attacker, operations create claims. A patch you push takes down ten clients in the same afternoon. A backup that was supposed to run did not. Each affected client has its own contract, its own requirements, and its own view of what you owe them.
Coverage mapped to how an MSP operates.
- Technology Errors & Omissions: responds when a client alleges that your services, advice, or work caused them financial loss: a failed migration, a missed patch window, a configuration error that takes a client offline. Tech E&O addresses financial loss arising from your technology services; it does not cover bodily injury or property damage.
- Cyber Liability: for the incident itself. Policies can include breach response and forensics, notification costs, income lost while systems are down after an attack, cyber extortion, and third-party claims when data you hold or can reach is compromised.
- Crime / Social Engineering: fraudulent funds transfer and impersonation schemes aimed at your team. When someone convincingly poses as your client or your technician and money moves, this is the coverage that can respond, subject to the policy's wording, limits, and exclusions.
- Commercial General Liability: the baseline your client contracts ask for. Covers third-party bodily injury and property damage, including work performed on client premises. One honest limit: CGL policies typically exclude electronic data, which is why the cyber policy sits alongside it rather than instead of it.
- Umbrella / Excess Liability: adds limits above your primary policies. When you serve many clients from one set of systems, a single event can produce many claims at once. Higher limits reflect that aggregation.
The right program is built from your contracts and your operations. Coverage is defined by the actual policy wording, not by this page.
The requirement usually arrives before the question.
Most MSPs come to us holding a client agreement: technology E&O and cyber liability at stated limits, sometimes a crime or fidelity requirement, sometimes wording that must expressly include network security. Procurement questionnaires ask how you protect the access you hold, and the answers have to be true.
We read the requirement with you, compare it against what you carry today, and close the gap. That is the whole job.
Two ways to get there.
Smaller MSPs with straightforward needs can start online in minutes, and every submission is reviewed by a human specialist. Larger operations, or contracts with unusual requirements, start with a conversation. Either way, the program is built around the access you hold.
Working in more than one of these areas?
Many technology companies do. Each segment page describes the exposure from that side of the business:
SaaS & Software · Cybersecurity Firms & MSSPs · Cloud & Hosting · Systems Integrators · VARs
